Private Studio.

I have been building a private studio of students now across both voice and violin, for the past 6 years. Passing on the skills and knowledge I have acquired through my own musical practice and study, is work that I see as incredibly important.

Voice

My own vocal technique has been largely developed in and around the Bel Canto style of singing, but continues to grow and evolve with my work. The benefit of one on one tuition, is having the option to make appropriate adjustments to each student’s individual learning trajectory. However, each voice student is expected to build a strong technical foundation, as this will then allow them to sing to the best of their abilities, and ensure as many musical opportunities are available to them as possible. Vocal students are also encouraged to develop a basic level of music reading, as well as establishing a passion and interest in the stories each piece of music has to tell. (Enrolling students from the age of 10, up to and above tertiary level. )

Violin

Violin was my own first instrument, and I believe the grounding I received from my early lessons has largely enabled me to do the work that I do. Correct and careful technique is of the utmost importance on violin, and I will ensure this is adhered to. While traditional repertoire is covered, and AMEB exams are always an option, I believe the instrument can still be learnt to be played well across a range of styles - which seems to suit the young instrumentalists of this generation. Music reading, scales, and theory are non negotiables for my violin students, as without these skills, opportunites for a young violinist can be severely limited.

Enrolling students from 5/6 years (Kindergarten enrolled), up to 4th grade level.
