Choir Girl.

Penrith Conservatorium - Inspire Choir

Choir has been one of my greatest loves since I was very young, and some of my greatest musical role models from my 25 years of musical work and training have been choral conductors.

My choral directing work so far has been largely with community choirs, student singers. When working with choirs, I am mostly looking to facilitate making beautiful music and - ideally - bringing people together. Ensuring that there is a sense of achievement, fun, and collaboration is essential to what I’m trying to bring about with my choral work. Of course honouring the notes on the page is very important too, but making music is so much more than that. When dealing with both a piece of music and a group of people… it is of the utmost importance that there is a sense of connection on every level.

I love to hear a choir. I love the humanity to see the faces of real people devoting themselves to a piece of music. I like the teamwork. It makes me feel optimistic about the human race when I see them cooperating like that.
